Praxis Special Education: Foundational Knowledge (5355) Practice Test

Allowing additional time for tests is a strong example of an accommodation for a student with learning disabilities as it directly addresses the specific challenges these students may face while completing assessments. Students with learning disabilities often process information at a different pace or may require more time to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge. This accommodation helps level the playing field, enabling them to perform to the best of their abilities without the added pressure of standard time constraints.

Other choices reflect modifications rather than accommodations. Reducing the amount of content to be learned changes the curriculum, which may not be appropriate for all students, while changing the required reading level alters the standard expectations for learning. Assigning a different teacher does not specifically assist the student in managing their learning disability within the established educational framework. Therefore, additional testing time remains focused on supporting the student’s individual needs while maintaining the overall educational goals.
